Design Associate
PlanetFlip is looking for unpaid interns to help us design, test and develop the next generation of social action app for mobile users.
At its core, the project aims at impacting climate change through actions that gain momentum in the community. It uses mobile technology as a way to empower communities through their local climate groups. The project itself grew out of conversations with participants and faculty from UC San Diego Design Lab seminars.
What you do matters
How you choose to devote your time this matters. Instead of simply developing your skill set, contribute to a project that is essential to our community and global health. By mobilizing climate actions, your involvement will make a difference.
Our approach
Personal action is essential to reversing climate change according to the recent United Nations Emissions Gap Report 2020:
[I]t is necessary for citizens to be active participants in changing their lifestyles through taking steps to reduce personal emissions and fostering societal change as consumers, citizens, owners of assets and members of communities. The participation of civil society is necessary to bring about wider changes in the social, cultural, political and economic systems in which people live.
Research was conducted through the Center for Behavior and the Environment and summarized in their 2018 Climate Change Needs Behavior Change publication. The report identifies thirty (30) solutions that when embraced by individuals and their groups, can mitigate 19.9 to 36.8 percent of global emissions from 2020-2050.
PlanetFlip will provide a way for communities to work together to take positive actions that make a difference.
You can make a difference by working with us to launch this product. We intend to place our app in the hands of climate action groups, beginning in southern California.
